About the trip

For an arctic getaway that puts you firmly in the driving seat, look no further than this turbo-charged adventure weekend in Sweden.

In a remote town where auto-manufacturers secretly test-drive new cars, join us as we jump into rally cars and accelerate across the snowy horizon of Swedish Lapland, ice shards flying into the air. We’ll also cruise across the white tundra on a snowmobile safari, stopping to fine-tune our Arctic survival skills and rustle up an alfresco feast over a roaring open fire.

We’ll catch a glimpse into the lives of local herders, as we share cosy lunches in Sami kåtas and help to feed reindeers. And we’ll take a twilight snowshoe ramble in one of the world’s best places to witness the Northern Lights, before knocking back hot glögg in the lively ice bar of an igloo hotel, complete with hot tubs beneath the dancing skies.

Get set, Flashpackers: this Swedish Lapland adventure is the stuff of dreams.

The Flash Pack Promise

Here at Flash Pack, we’re committed to unique adventures that deliver great value for money. We pack our trips with epic experiences (unlike other companies, all activities are included), hand-pick stylish hotels and match you with like-minded people.

Day 1

Snowshoes and igloos beneath the Northern Lights

Touch down at Arvidsjaur airport and we’ll whisk you off to Arjeplog to check into your hotel and meet your Sweden guide. Grab welcome drinks and dinner with your Flashpackers before we head out on snowshoes in search of the Northern Lights. The fun continues afterwards with a glögg-fuelled tour of Iglootel, an igloo complete with a sauna, hot tub and ice bar. You can book a night in Iglootel in one of the cosy sleeping igloos (with access to your Kraja hotel room). It’s optional and could be on any night, but it’s not everyday you can soak in a hot tub beneath the Northern Lights…

Please note: Iglootel is reconstructed annually and re-opens in mid-January, so the optional overnight here is not available before 11 January 2019. If you’re travelling prior to this, we’ll go on an exclusive tour around Iglootel to see ice carving and sculpt our own masterpieces instead.

Day 2

Reindeer and rally driving

After breakfast, we’re immersing ourselves in the lives of locals with a visit to Båtsuoj Sami Centre. You’ll be welcomed by a modern Sami family where you can embrace life as a Sami reindeer herder, meet and feed the resident reindeer herd, and tour traditional Sami buildings. We’ll gather around the roaring fire in a Sami kåta (hut), learning about Sami history, culture and what it means to be a modern-day reindeer herder. Lunch is then cooked before you over the fire, including local reindeer meat. Next up, we’re heading to Lippi where it’s time to jump into rally cars and rev full throttle across a frozen lake. Put your foot down as you race past your vast snowy surroundings in a blur of white beauty, ice spraying behind you and engine charging full-pelt forwards. Then, after blazing your way across the snow, we’ll head back to Kraja for a well-deserved dinner.

Day 3

Snowmobile safaris and survival instincts

Wake up fresh in your winter wonderland, ready to become a part of the landscape on a fleet of snowmobiles. Slice across the spectacular scenery of Arjeplog with a powerful snowmobile under your control. Slap bang in the middle of nowhere, we’ll stop for lunch – Lapland-style. You’ll help build an open fire, and your guide will teach you the basic survival skills needed for living in these arctic extremes. After an alfresco lunch cooked over the fire, we’ll return to civilisation, where the rest of the afternoon is yours to do as you please. Come evening, we’ll gather around for a three-course farewell dinner and raise a glass to the end of your Swedish adventure. But fear not, there’s still an entire evening of Lappish escapism to enjoy. We suggest a relaxing session in the sauna or bracing the outdoors in search of the Northern Lights – the packing can wait.

So long, Swedish Lapland

All good adventures must come to an end so the time has come to bid your farewells to your new-found Flashpacker pals. Your transfer awaits to whizz you back to Arvidsjaur, where you can board your flight back to reality buoyed on by your supersized winter weekend. Together with your like-minded Flashpackers, you’ve hiked beneath the Northern Lights on a twilight snowshoe trek, embraced the life of a traditional Sami reindeer herder and got your adrenaline pumping with some ice-rally driving. You’ve glugged glögg in an igloo (and maybe slept in one, too), blazed a trail on a snowmobile safari and learnt arctic survival skills, all against the enchanting backdrop of Swedish Lapland. With your newfound insight into local life and sharpened survival skills, there’s nothing stopping you from grabbing your snowshoes and forging a new life out here. We won’t tell if you don’t…
