10 October, 2013

To coincide with our company launch, we invited flashpackers (backpackers with better gadgets and bigger budgets) to send us their best holiday and travel snaps for a chance to win a top of the line Fujifilm Digital Camera.

The Flash Pack Travel Photo Competition garnered 1406 entries from every corner of the globe and thankfully, unfortunately or unbelievably, not one image of a twerking celebrity was entered! With indisputable facts like 150 Million Monthly Users, 16 Billion Photos and 55 Million Photos shared every day; Instagram was naturally the platform of choice, but instead of leaving the final decision up to a panel of unseen judges, we asked you to vote for your favourite.

We are proud to announce that Manuel Hutama’s dreamy image of a Winter Wonderland in Kazakhstan won hands down! Congratulations Manuel! We hope you enjoy your snazzy new Fujifilm Digital Camera!

A big shout goes out to our friends at Fuji for sponsoring a brand new Fujifilm XP200 Underwater/ Outdoor Digital Camera. The Flash Pack founder and in-house photojournalist, Lee Thompson put this small but powerful shockproof camera through its paces on a recent assignment to Lebanon and it performed like a boss! Unable to resist the temptation to drop it, drown it, freeze it and cover it in dust, Lee put on some brainy glasses and a white lab coat and got to work. Surprisingly, the Fujifilm XP200’s 16million pixels sensor, 5X optical zoom lens, full HD video and built in Wifi system not only survived a 6.6ft (2m) free fall, a hectic Levant sandstorm and icy temperatures of 14°F(-10°C), but it still knocked out gorgeous high quality images 50ft (15m) underwater.
