There are just so many caveats that crop up in pursuit of this golden standard.<\/p>\n<p>Happiness comes from connecting with people, but not <a href=\"http:\/\/www.independent.co.uk\/life-style\/gadgets-and-tech\/facebook-social-media-make-unhappy-jealous-people-particularly-sad-copenhagen-university-study-a7490816.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">on Facebook<\/a>. We need <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/sciencetech\/article-4582734\/Study-finds-friends-strongly-linked-happiness.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">some friends<\/a>, but not <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bustle.com\/articles\/158302-the-ideal-number-of-best-friends-is-lower-than-you-think-but-dont-start-dropping-people\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">too many<\/a>.\u00a0 <a href=\"http:\/\/time.com\/4070299\/secret-to-happiness\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Helping others<\/a> is critical, yet so too is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.psychologytoday.com\/us\/blog\/high-octane-women\/201201\/6-reasons-you-should-spend-more-time-alone\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">spending time alone<\/a>. A certain <a href=\"http:\/\/time.com\/money\/5157625\/ideal-income-study\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">amount of money<\/a> brings us satisfaction, but there&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.forbes.com\/sites\/panosmourdoukoutas\/2013\/02\/18\/how-much-happiness-can-money-buy\/#710926545f23\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">a threshold<\/a>\u00a0to this effect; and it&#8217;s better spent on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.telegraph.co.uk\/science\/2017\/07\/24\/money-really-can-buy-happiness-say-scientists\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">freeing up time<\/a> rather than material possessions.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s great to have such a cacophony of info; yet, it&#8217;s also enough to make anyone&#8217;s head spin.<\/p>\n<p>So, it was with relief that we stumbled upon an intriguingly simple approach to this enormous and thorny topic.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Hawaiian approach<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-12897\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/Hawaii-Shutterstock-1-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1000\" height=\"667\" \/><\/p>\n<p>According to a new article in\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.forbes.com\/sites\/jordilippemcgraw\/2018\/02\/27\/hawaii-secret-to-happiness\/#56c45be43c7f\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Forbes<\/a>, the Hawaiian language is brimming with different words that capture happiness. Trying something different &#8211; whether that&#8217;s travelling to a new country, or learning a fresh skill &#8211; facilitates <a href=\"https:\/\/www.psychologytoday.com\/us\/blog\/beautiful-minds\/201206\/why-weird-experiences-boost-creativity\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">flexible thinking<\/a>. Psychologists call it mastery.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>So, there you have it.
