Please let us know if you are struggling – we’ll do our very best to help.

What time should my flight arrive (in time for the welcome meeting)?
Before 3pm ideally. The welcome meeting and dinner will be from 7pm onwards at the hotel, which is located approximately 45 minutes from Ivalo Airport.

If you arrive on Day 1 of your adventure, or you’ve booked yourself a pre-night at the same hotel the adventure starts from, your airport arrival transfer will be included. Arrival transfers are private to Flash Pack and in groups depending on flight times, so you may have to wait in the airport for a short while.
However, if you’ve booked alternative pre-trip accommodation or are arriving by another mode of transport, you’ll have to arrange your own arrival transfer.
Please also note: in order to secure your place on the private transfer, you’ll need to provide your flight details to our Customer Experience team no later than 30 days prior to your adventure’s departure date. You’ll get automated email reminders about this, but the team won’t be chasing you. That’s why it’s key to get this information over in good time. If the details are provided later than 30 days pre-departure, you’ll have to arrange your own arrival transfer.
Departure transfers are also included in the cost of this trip.

Are tips included?
Please note that tips are not included in the cost of this adventure. Suggested amounts per person are:

Pack Leader: 10 EUR per day
Drivers: 3 EUR per day

However, all tips are at your discretion depending on what you feel comfortable with.

Do I need a visa?
Up-to-date visa and entry information can be found using our official partner, Sherpa, who can help you arrange a visa if needed.
You can also find essential travel advice – including security and local laws, as well as passport and visa information – on the government website of your home country:

UK residents: review the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) Travel Advice before your adventure.
US residents: consult the US Department of State Travel Advice for important travel information.
Australian residents: check the Smart Traveler website for up-to-date travel advice.
Residents of other countries: refer to the travel advice provided by your own government or local consulate.

Please be aware that passport and visa requirements can change before departure, so it’s important to stay updated with the latest information.

What vaccinations and medication will I need?
While we are not medical professionals and cannot offer personalized medical advice, we want to ensure you have a safe and enjoyable adventure. Here are some tips to help you prepare.
1. Consult with a healthcare professional
We recommend scheduling an appointment with your travel nurse or doctor at least eight weeks before your adventure. This will give you ample time to receive any necessary vaccines or medications.
2. Up-to-date medical advice

UK residents: visit the NHS Fit For Travel website for the latest medical advice.
US residents: check the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention website for specialized health information.
Australian residents: refer to the Smart Traveler Health website for current medical advice.

3. Government travel advice

UK residents: review the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) Travel Advice before your adventure.
US residents: consult the US Department of State Travel Advice for important travel information.
Australian residents: check the Smart Traveler website for up-to-date travel advice.

4. Medication tips
If you take prescription medication, ensure you bring enough to last the entire adventure, plus a few extra days in case of travel delays. Carry a copy of your prescription with you in case you need to visit a clinic while abroad.
We hope this information will help you prepare for a safe and healthy adventure.

What do I need to consider about the remote nature of this trip?
This trip has a fixed base and is in a remote part of Finland. The remote setting is part of what makes the experience so special, allowing you to disconnect and immerse yourself in nature. However, it’s important to be aware of the practical considerations that come with an isolated location:

There is only a small healthcare clinic which is about 40 minutes from the base for this trip.
The closest hospital is a 4 hour drive away and the closest hospital for severe cases is a 7 hour drive away. These journeys are not necessarily completed by ambulance as the vastness of this remote part of Finland means that ambulances may be a long way away when called.
There is the possibility of air evacuation both within Finland or to Norway but your travel insurance must cover this.

The healthcare in Finland is generally very good but this location is remote and therefore higher-risk. This trip does not carry any major inherent risks with it but should you have pre-existing medical conditions including, but not limited to, heart or respiratory conditions, recently diagnosed conditions, or blood orders such as haemophilia, please consult your doctor before booking.

How much should I budget per day for extras?
This trip is nearly fully inclusive so you won’t need much. Activity guide tips are included in the cost – but you’ll need to allow for any drinks at the hotel. As a guide, a beer costs 6.5 EUR and a bottle of wine is from 42 EUR upwards.

What's the accommodation like?
If you’ve booked to share a twin room with someone else, you’ll be in an Arctic room at the hotel. If you opt for a single supplement, you’ll be in a Wilderness room.
Both room types offer a comfortable stay, with Wilderness rooms housed in the main building and Arctic rooms situated in separate buildings just a short distance away.

What fitness levels do I need for this trip?
This adventure is fast-paced and it will challenge you during the ski trek especially. However, no specific level of fitness is required, we just want to ensure you are happy partaking in the activities like snowmobiling, husky sledding and snowshoeing. We recommend having a read-through of the itinerary above, and getting in touch if you have specific questions on fitness.

What should I pack?
To keep you warm in the Finnish winter, you’ll be provided with a thermal overcoat, boots, and gloves upon arrival at the hotel on Day 1. These can be used throughout your stay, including during free time and in the evenings.
While bringing your own winter clothing is not mandatory, it is recommended for comfort and flexibility. Temperatures can drop as low as –4°F (-20°C), so having warm layers for arrival and departure is advised. If you prefer to use the provided gear for all outdoor activities and free time, you won’t need to pack as much of your own winter clothing.
What you pack is personal to you and our list is certainly not exhaustive. If you have any questions about what to pack for your trip to Finland, please get in touch with one of our friendly Travel Experts.
Clothing

Warm, insulated, wind-resistant winter jacket and pants
Waterproof insulated gloves or mittens
Winter hat and scarf or buff
Long-sleeved thermal base layers and a fleece
Swimwear – for cold-water swimming and saunas

Optional Extras for Added Comfort

Hand warmers, foot warmers, or a hot water bottle
Eveningwear – you may want something dressier for dinners

Baggage

Large backpack or suitcase – choose what suits your travel style
Day bag (20-25 liters) – for essentials like water and your camera

Shoes

Good waterproof boots/shoes and thick socks – while snow boots are provided, having warm, waterproof footwear for everyday use is useful

Accessories

Driving license – required for snowmobile driving
Electronics and chargers – phone, camera, chargers, etc.
Plug adapters – Finnish sockets are type C (same as most of Europe)
Refillable water bottle – to reduce plastic waste
Eye mask and earplugs – useful for light sleepers
Personal medication and toiletries (including toothbrush, deodorant, hairbrush, razors, etc.)
Shampoo and conditioner
Painkillers and antibacterial gel
Lip balm with SPF
Moisturizer
High SPF factor sun cream – protects your skin from the cold

Can my special dietary requirements be catered for?
Most food allergies and special diets can of course be catered for on this trip, for example, if you are a vegan you will receive a vegan version of the same menu. However, severe allergies like an extreme nut allergy cannot be catered for on this adventure, as all food is prepared in the same kitchen. Please bear this in mind when booking, and reach out to us if you think you will be affected.

Will I see the Northern Lights?
The Northern Lights are best viewed on clear nights between late August and early April.
Please be aware that the Northern Lights are weather-dependent and not guaranteed to appear on every trip.

Will I get to drive a snowmobile?
You need to have a driver’s license from your home country in order to drive a snowmobile. Otherwise, you can still take part but you’ll need to ride pillion.
Before going on the snowmobiling safari, you will be asked to sign a liability form to confirm you consider yourself to be able to take part in the activity. Snowmobiles are expensive machines and the form also explains that in the unlikely event you damage a snowmobile, you will be required to pay for repairs up to a value of 900 EUR. An insurance policy at a cost of 15 EUR is available to purchase locally which will decrease your liability for any damage to 150 EUR. Your activity guide will talk you through everything before the safari to ensure you are comfortable, but if you would like to see a copy of the liability form prior to travel, please do feel free to get in touch with us.

What animal welfare practices are in place for the husky-sledding and reindeer experiences?
In Finland, animal welfare is tightly regulated by law under the national Animal Welfare Act.
For this adventure, we work with a responsible husky farm that holds a Green Activities certification – a recognised standard that requires strict welfare, safety and sustainability practices, alongside external audits and ongoing quality control.
The dogs follow regulated working schedules, which allows the farm to carefully monitor how often each husky runs and ensure they get adequate rest. Their health and wellbeing are supported through routine veterinary checks, proper nutrition and appropriate living conditions.
Our reindeer experiences are provided by local herders for whom reindeer husbandry is a long-established livelihood, not just a tourism activity.
