Your Itinerary

  • Day 01 Hello, Tanzania

    Card image

Welcome to Tanzania, the largest country in East Africa and home to some of the world’s most spectacular wildlife. After arriving by 4 pm, a private transfer will take you to your hotel in Arusha. Here, you’ll find a lively city waiting to be explored – a contrast to the lush wilderness of the north. Meet your fellow travelers and expert guide at the hotel, before heading out to celebrate your first night with welcome drinks.

  • Day 02 Seek out majestic wildlife in the Serengeti

    Card image

This morning will see you head out into the wilderness of Serengeti National Park. En route, stop by the historic Olduvai Gorge in the Great Rift Valley, where the earliest evidence of human activity is found. After your light archeology lesson, you’ll then arrive in one of the most spectacular safari destinations in the region. Depending on the season, you’ll experience either the sun-parched beauty of the dry months or the lush abundance following rainfall. This afternoon, head out with your group on a game drive into the Serengeti in search of the Big 5.

  • Day 03 Morning game drives & starlit camping

    Card image

Wake up early this morning to head into the Serengeti on a morning game drive. Discover a wild landscape as you drive deeper into the national park in search of wildlife. This is a unique opportunity to encounter some of Africa’s most sought-after animals. Then, enjoy lunch back at camp before heading out again for another game drive. Watch the terrain transform from open plains to forested scrubs, passing sunbathing lions and roaming wildebeest. As the sun sets over the grasslands, head back to camp for a night under the stars. * As an optional extra, you can take a hot air balloon ride over the Serengeti instead of the morning game drive. Please get in touch with our Sales Team for more details.

  • Day 04 Discover Africa’s Eden

    Card image

Today’s adventure will take you to the Ngorongoro Crater, a 10-mile stretch of wilderness brimming with biodiversity. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, this region is known as Tanzania’s Garden of Eden, and within this ancient volcanic caldera, you’ll find one of the largest wildlife populations on earth. From lions and elephants to flamingoes and the (critically endangered) black rhino, the range of species you’ll encounter here is breathtaking.

  • Day 05 Arrive on the azure shores of Zanzibar

    Card image

Head to Arusha Airport this morning and catch a short flight over to Zanzibar, where you’ll find crystal-clear waters and medieval city sights. Spend the rest of the day exploring the Stone Town, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the historic heart of Zanzibar City. With its narrow alleys, crumbling Arab architecture and medieval port, you could spend hours happily lost in these charming streets. Alternatively, we suggest taking a boat trip to Prison Island, an islet that used to confine WWII prisoners and is now home to a giant tortoise sanctuary. Then, in the evening, gather with your group for dinner at a local restaurant, with cocktails overlooking the Indian Ocean.

  • Day 06 Delve into the history of Spice Island

    Card image

Discover why Zanzibar is known as Spice Island, as you spend the morning visiting its famous spice plantations. The island was an important trading port in the 19th century, renowned for its fragrant spices and fresh produce. Surrounded by cinnamon, vanilla and ginger, learn about the history of the spice trade from your expert guide before moving onwards to the village of Nungwi. Spend the rest of the afternoon settling into your new beachside retreat, with soft white beaches and the Indian Ocean at your doorstep. Not bad at all.

  • Day 07 Sail the coast of Zanzibar on a dhow boat

    Card image

After a hotel breakfast, hop aboard a traditional dhow boat to set sail along the northern coast of Zanzibar. Your first stop will be Mnemba Atoll, a marine conservation site boasting magnificent coral reefs and vibrant wildlife. Snorkel through the reefs alongside turtles and shoals of fish, before docking up on Muyuni Beach for a seafood barbecue on the white sands. After lunch, sail onwards with your group to Mnemba Island. Keep an eye out for inquisitive dolphins as you explore the rich variety of coral reefs.

  • Day 08 Explore the sights of Stone Town

    Card image

We’ve left this day free for you to spend at leisure. Whether you choose to sprawl out on the beach with a book or head into the Stone Town for a day of culture, take things at your own pace as you savor your final day of adventure.

  • Day 09 Take off from Tanzania

    Card image

After breakfast, it’s up to you to make your own way to the airport. The quickest option is to fly from Zanzibar, but let us know if you want to catch the ferry to Dar es Salaam instead. We recommend pairing this trip with our Rwandan adventure, which will see you trek alongside gorillas and explore a lush volcanic landscape.
