Which airport do I need to fly into and out of? Plus airport code
Fly into and out of Cancún International Airport (CUN).
-
What time should my flight arrive (in time for the welcome meeting)?
Please try to arrive in Cancún before 1pm as the transfer to your first hotel in Tulum will take approximately two hours.
-
What time should my flight depart on the last day?
On the final day, make sure your flight doesn’t leave before 2pm. Your adventure finishes a few hours away from the airport and we only have one group transfer on this day back to Cancún.
-
Are airport transfers included?
If you arrive on Day 1 of your adventure, or you’ve booked yourself a pre-night at the same hotel the adventure starts from, your airport arrival transfer will be included. Arrival transfers are private to Flash Pack and in groups depending on flight times, so you may have to wait in the airport for a short while.
However, if you’ve booked alternative pre-trip accommodation or are arriving by another mode of transport, you’ll have to arrange your own arrival transfer.
Please also note: in order to secure your place on the private transfer, you’ll need to provide your flight details to our Customer Experience team no later than 30 days prior to your adventure’s departure date. You’ll get automated email reminders about this, but the team won’t be chasing you. That’s why it’s key to get this information over in good time. If the details are provided later than 30 days pre-departure, you’ll have to arrange your own arrival transfer.
We also offer a departure transfer trip on Day 9, returning from Holbox to the mainland by ferry and then a transfer to Cancún International Airport. If you wish to extend your stay in Holbox, you’ll need to arrange your own transfer to the airport. Alternatively, if you arrange to extend your trip in the Cancún area, you can pay a flat fee of 500 MXN directly to the group transfer driver to take you to your hotel once other Flashpackers have been dropped off at the airport. Hilton Garden Inn Cancun Airport is exempt from this additional transfer fee.

What vaccinations and medication will I need?
While we are not medical professionals and cannot offer personalised medical advice, we want to ensure you have a safe and enjoyable adventure. Here are some tips to help you prepare.
1. Consult with a healthcare professional
We recommend scheduling an appointment with your travel nurse or doctor at least eight weeks before your adventure. This will give you ample time to receive any necessary vaccines or medications.
2. Up-to-date medical advice
3. Government travel advice
4. Medication tips
If you take prescription medication, ensure you bring enough to last the entire adventure, plus a few extra days in case of travel delays. Carry a copy of your prescription with you in case you need to visit a clinic while abroad.
We hope this information will help you prepare for a safe and healthy adventure.

Please note that tips are not included in the cost of this adventure. Suggested amounts per person are:
- Pack Leader: 7.50-10 USD per day
- Drivers: 3 USD per day
- Local tips: your Pack Leader will be able to advise on how much to tip local guides, restaurants, etc. Some Pack Leaders will collect a tipping kitty at the welcome meeting to take care of local tips.
However, all tips are at your discretion depending on what you feel comfortable with.

What will the jungle camping be like?
This is a basic but atmospheric site exclusive to Flash Pack. You’ll be sleeping in individual net-sided tents, suspended between trees and open to the sounds of the jungle. There will be a toilet and shower block, with flush toilets and cool showers (the jungle is hot so the cool shower is refreshing). Meals are provided by the local community and you’ll have a chance to learn about their traditional way of life.
-
What fitness levels do I need for this adventure?
Overall this adventure does not require a high level of physical fitness. We recommend having a read through of the itinerary above, and getting in touch if you have specific questions on fitness.
-
Are there alternatives to rappelling?
The rappel into the cenote is about 40 feet. There’s also a rope ladder to climb down If you’d rather not rappel, but you’ll still be required to wear a safety harness. At the bottom of the cenote are inner tubes that you can use to float around and swim.
-
How much should I budget per day for extras?
Activities and some meals are included in the adventure cost, so you won’t need to spend much money other than for souvenirs and the meals that aren’t included. In hotels and establishments that cater primarily to tourists, expect to pay about 25% less for food and drinks than you would at a similar place back home. However, your Pack Leader will help you find the best local places that offer great value.
-
Will activities be cancelled if the weather is bad?
Most activities will go ahead rain or shine as long as it is safe to do so. However, on occasion we may need to arrange alternative activities.
If it is windy and rainy, the Day 8 boat trip to Cabo Catoche will be replaced with a more sheltered boat ride to Isla Pájaros (the ‘Island of Birds’), which is home to more than 35 species of nesting birds, including pelicans, cormorants, gulls and frigates. You’ll enjoy the multicoloured landscapes of Passion Island, finishing with a rejuvenating dip in the stunning waters of Yalahau natural spring.
