This beautiful and untouched island may have less in the way of facilities than neighboring Bali, but this ruggedness is the island’s appeal. Here, you’ll find dozens of spots overlooked by tourists that are ripe for exploration as well as excellent dive spots and white sandy beaches.
Also known as the Abode of the Gods, Dieng Plateau is a landscape of potato and tobacco fields, as well as some of the oldest Hindu architecture in Java. These lush, green islands are at their best during or after monsoon season, when a good drenching brings the landscape to its most vibrant best.
Here you’ll find Indonesia’s best museums, a host of high-end restaurants and a nightlife scene that will let you party on into the night. It’s a city that can feel overwhelming at times, but you can still find moments of calm, by taking a stroll down the grand boulevard of Jl Thamrin when it’s closed to vehicles on Sunday mornings for example.
This Indonesian archipelago is comprised of hundreds of jungle-covered islands off the northwest tip of Bird’s Head Peninsula. Few people inhabit this lush landscape, but the hidden lagoons, eerie caves and white sandy beaches are fantastic to explore. Its diverse marine life is a diver’s dream, and there’s just as much wildlife on land too.
