Adventure FAQs
-
Which airport do I need to fly into and out of (plus airport code)?
Fly into and out of Calgary International Airport (YYC).
-
What time should my flight arrive (in time for the welcome meeting)?
Try to arrive before 4pm in Calgary on Day 1 in order to arrive in time for the welcome meeting at 6pm.
-
What time should my flight depart on the last day?
Ideally, no earlier than 4pm. A group transfer is included back to Calgary, which will arrive at the airport by 2pm latest.
If you’d prefer an earlier flight home, you’re welcome to leave the group transfer and make your own way to Calgary Airport. The Brewster Express runs a early morning service from Lake Louise, departing at 6am and arriving at Calgary Airport at around 10am, making it suitable for flights from approximately 12.30pm onwards.
Please note this transfer isn’t included in the trip price and would need to be booked and paid for independently. The cost is approximately $150 CAD. We’d recommend booking in advance as spaces fill up quickly.
-
Do you include airport transfers?
If you arrive on Day 1 of your adventure, or you’ve booked yourself a pre-night at the same hotel the adventure starts from, your airport arrival transfer will be included. Arrival transfers are private to Flash Pack and in groups depending on flight times, so you may have to wait in the airport for a short while.
However, if you’ve booked alternative pre-trip accommodation or are arriving by another mode of transport, you’ll have to arrange your own arrival transfer.
Please also note: in order to secure your place on the private transfer, you’ll need to provide your flight details to our Customer Experience team no later than 30 days prior to your adventure’s departure date. You’ll get automated email reminders about this, but the team won’t be chasing you. That’s why it’s key to get this information over in good time. If the details are provided later than 30 days pre-departure, you’ll have to arrange your own arrival transfer.
A departure transfer is also included in the cost of this adventure.
-
Do I need a visa?
Up-to-date visa and entry information can be found using our official partner, Sherpa, who can help you arrange a visa if needed.

-
What is the longest journey on the itinerary?
The drive on day 5 will be the longest journey along the Icefields Parkway. There will be plenty of stops, however, with photo opportunities at the stunning Peyto and Bow Lakes, before your glacier walk.
-
Are there any activities with weight/height restrictions? If so, what are the restrictions?
Yes, two activities have the following restrictions:
-
Horseback riding : Weight Limit: the maximum weight limit is 230 lbs (104 kg). Riders are weighed on a scale at the time of the ride. Height Limit: All riders must be a minimum of 52 inches (132 cm) tall
-
Rafting : Minimum Weight: 90 lbs (41 kg) / General Maximum Weight: Approximately 300 lbs
-
-
Is there free Wi-Fi available at each hotel?
Yes, except for your stay at Sundance by Basecamp. The property is designed as an off-grid glamping experience, meaning there is no internet connection available. Cell service on-site can also be quite limited depending on your provider.
-
Can I have a single room throughout this adventure?
Yes, however it’s worth noting that private bathrooms (toilets and showers) will not be available at the Sundance by Basecamp glamping site. The single supplement rate will be adjusted to factor this into account.
-
What level of fitness do I need?
This adventure is part of our challenging portfolio, and while no specialized training is required, good overall stamina and fitness is recommended.
Have a read-through of the itinerary above to make sure you are happy partaking in the activities mentioned, and don’t hesitate to get in touch if you have specific questions on fitness.
-
Do I need to be able to swim?
For the rafting experience, yes, you’ll need to feel comfortable in the water. If swimming isn’t your thing, no problem: rafting isn’t possible from mid-September onwards due to water levels, so our later departures are a great option if you’d prefer to skip the water activities entirely.
-
What activity replaces rafting on the mid-September departures?
From mid-September, rafting is replaced with something equally spectacular. As river levels rise later in the season, guests board the Kicking Horse Gondola instead, climbing to over 7,700 feet for panoramic views stretching across six mountain ranges and five national parks. From there, those who want to push a little further can continue on the short hike to Terminator Peak, one of the area’s most breathtaking viewpoints, before watching the sun go down over the mountains.
-
What vaccinations and medication will I need?
While we are not medical professionals and cannot offer personalised medical advice, we want to ensure you have a safe and enjoyable adventure. Here are some tips to help you prepare.
1. Consult with a healthcare professional
We recommend scheduling an appointment with your travel nurse or doctor at least eight weeks before your adventure. This will give you ample time to receive any necessary vaccines or medications.
2. Up-to-date medical advice
- UK residents: visit the NHS Fit For Travel website for the latest medical advice.
- US residents: check the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention website for specialised health information.
- Australian residents: refer to the Smart Traveler Health website for current medical advice.
3. Government travel advice
- UK residents: review the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) Travel Advice before your adventure.
- US residents: consult the US Department of State Travel Advice for important travel information.
- Australian residents: check the Smart Traveler website for up-to-date travel advice.
4. Medication tips
If you take prescription medication, ensure you bring enough to last the entire adventure, plus a few extra days in case of travel delays. Carry a copy of your prescription with you in case you need to visit a clinic while abroad.
We hope this information will help you prepare for a safe and healthy adventure.
-
How much should I budget per day for extras?
We recommend budgeting around 100 CAD per day for extras like meals, drinks and activities.
-
Are tips included?
Please note that tips are not included in the cost of this adventure. Suggested amounts per person are:
- Pack Leader: 10 CAD per day
- Local tips: your Pack Leader will be able to advise on how much to tip local guides, restaurants, etc. Some Pack Leaders will collect a tipping kitty at the welcome meeting to take care of local tips.
However, all tips are at your discretion depending on what you feel comfortable with.
-
Will this itinerary change?
Please be aware that the itinerary, activities and hotels are subject to change. These changes can happen with little notice due to availability, poor weather, seasonal changes, or other circumstances beyond our control – but we’ll always do our best to ensure it has little impact on your experience. From time to time, we may also make changes to your itinerary to try out new ideas and keep things fresh and exciting.
