Adventure FAQs
-
Are flights included?
Flights to and from your destination aren’t included in the trip price — you’ll need to book these independently. Any flights needed during the tour itself are included and taken care of by us. You’ll find recommended arrival and departure airports, along with suggested arrival and departure times, in the FAQs below.
-
Which airport do I need to fly in and out of? Plus airport code
Fly into Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) and out of Abeid Amani Karume (Zanzibar) International Airport (ZNZ).
-
What time should my flight arrive (in time for the welcome meeting)?
Ideally before 3pm. The welcome meeting and dinner starts at 6:45pm at the hotel, which is around 1 hour from the airport.
-
What time should my flight depart on the last day?
Check-out time is 11am but we recommend booking your return flight from 2pm onwards, to allow plenty of time for travel and check-in. The hotel is around 1 hour and 30 minutes away (65km) from the airport, and you’ll need to arrive three hours before your flight. If you’re happy with an early start, earlier departures are possible – just be prepared for a pre-dawn wake-up call. Your Pack Leader or hotel staff can help you book your transfers the night before if needed.
-
Do you include airport transfers?
If you arrive on Day 1 of your adventure, or you’ve booked yourself a pre-night at the same hotel the adventure starts from, your airport arrival transfer will be included. Arrival transfers are private to Flash Pack and in groups depending on flight times, so you may have to wait in the airport for a short while.
However, if you’ve booked alternative pre-trip accommodation or are arriving by another mode of transport, you’ll have to arrange your own arrival transfer.Â
Please also note: in order to secure your place on the private transfer, you’ll need to provide your flight details to our Customer Experience team no later than 30 days prior to your adventure’s departure date. You’ll get automated email reminders about this, but the team won’t be chasing you. That’s why it’s key to get this information over in good time. If the details are provided later than 30 days pre-departure, you’ll have to arrange your own arrival transfer.
Departure transfers are typically not included due to travelers leaving at varying times. That said, your Pack Leader will happily help arrange departure transfers for you if required.
-
Are tips included?
Please note that tips are not included in the cost of this adventure. Suggested amounts per person are:
Pack Leader: 10 USD per day
Drivers: 10 USD per dayLocal tips: your Pack Leader will be able to advise on how much to tip local guides, restaurants, etc. Some Pack Leaders will collect a tipping kitty at the welcome meeting to take care of local tips.
However, all tips are at your discretion depending on what you feel comfortable with.
-
Do I need a visa?
Up-to-date visa and entry information can be found using our official partner, Sherpa, who can help you arrange a visa if needed.
You can also find essential travel advice – including security and local laws, as well as passport and visa information – on the government website of your home country:
- UK residents: review the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) Travel Advice before your adventure.
- US residents: consult the US Department of State Travel Advice for important travel information.
- Australian residents: check the Smart Traveler website for up-to-date travel advice.
- Residents of other countries: refer to the travel advice provided by your own government or local consulate.
Please be aware that passport and visa requirements can change before departure, so it’s important to stay updated with the latest information.

Do I need additional insurance?
As of 1st October 2026, the Tanzanian government has introduced a mandatory insurance policy for all visitors. Here are the need-to-knows:
-
The insurance costs US$44 per person and is valid for 92 days. It must be purchased through the official websites.
-
You must still have comprehensive travel insurance for the rest of your journey.
-
Entry to Tanzania may be denied without proof of purchasing this specific insurance.
-
-
Do I need to complete a health form before arrival?
As of 17th October 2026, the Tanzanian government requires all travellers to fill out a Travellers Health Surveillance Form due to the recent ebola outbreak. To see the form in English, go to the drop down box in the top right corner.
Completion of this form must be done within 24 hours before arrival. Failure to do so may cause delays at the arrival airport in Tanzania.
-
What vaccinations and medication will I need?
While we are not medical professionals and cannot offer personalized medical advice, we want to ensure you have a safe and enjoyable adventure. Here are some tips to help you prepare.
1. Consult with a healthcare professional
We recommend scheduling an appointment with your travel nurse or doctor at least eight weeks before your adventure. This will give you ample time to receive any necessary vaccines or medications.
2. Up-to-date medical advice
- UK residents: visit the NHS Fit For Travel website for the latest medical advice.
- US residents: check the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention website for specialised health information.
- Australian residents: refer to the Smart Traveler Health website for current medical advice.
3. Government travel advice
- UK residents: review the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) Travel Advice before your adventure.
- US residents: consult the US Department of State Travel Advice for important travel information.
- Australian residents: check the Smart Traveler website for up-to-date travel advice.
4. Medication tips
If you take prescription medication, ensure you bring enough to last the entire adventure, plus a few extra days in case of travel delays. Carry a copy of your prescription with you in case you need to visit a clinic while abroad.
We hope this information will help you prepare for a safe and healthy adventure.
-
How much should I budget per day for extras?
Most of your meals are included but we recommend budgeting around 95,000 TZS, the equivalent of 30 GBP/40 USD per day for extras.
-
What's the luggage limit for domestic flights on this itinerary?
Internal flight luggage limits are: 15kg on the Arusha–Seronera flight and 15kg (plus 5kg hand luggage) on the bush flight from Seronera to Zanzibar. Soft bags are recommended for bush flights.
-
What happens if I want or need to sit out of an activity?
At Flash Pack, we’re all about adventure, but we get that not every activity will be for everyone. If there is something that you need to skip, your Pack Leader can suggest ways to make the most of your free time. Your trip price covers the itinerary as a whole, so activities you choose not to join aren’t refundable.
-
Will the itinerary change?
Please be aware that the itinerary, activities and hotels are subject to change. These changes can happen with little notice due to availability, poor weather, seasonal changes, or other circumstances beyond our control – but we’ll always do our best to ensure it has little impact on your experience. From time to time, we may also make changes to your itinerary to try out new ideas and keep things fresh and exciting.
The order of some of the activities may change. Please check with one of our Travel Experts about the specific departure you are interested in.
-
Can I request a single room on this adventure?
Single supplements aren’t available at the time of booking on this adventure due to the limited number of Land Rovers at the Bush Rover Migration Camp in Serengeti National Park.
However, closer to departure – around 10 days before your adventure – you may have the option to bid in a blind auction to upgrade to a single room if there’s an odd number of female or male Flashpackers in your group. Full details will be shared in the WhatsApp group, along with the minimum starting bid.
If no one opts for this and we don’t receive any last-minute bookings, one Flashpacker will be placed in a twin room alone, based on the best overall group compatibility.
-
Will I have the same Pack Leader for the whole trip?
During this adventure, you will have two dedicated Pack Leaders. The first will guide you on the Tanzanian mainland, and the second will join you in Zanzibar. Your mainland Pack Leader will assist until you board your flight at Seronera Airstrip, and your Zanzibar Pack Leader will meet you upon arrival in Zanzibar.
