With the World Cup now over we got to thinking, where do you go now all the football has finished? Brazil has a lot to offer, but what ticks the “boutique” box?

If it’s the true Brazil you are after, Paraty is the place for you. With its centuries old architecture mixed with secluded beaches situated in amongst the mountainous rainforest, it’s a perfect place to go to escape the World Cup crowd (or any crowd for that matter!). The best thing about Casa Cairucu isn’t the astounding sea views, the abundant wildlife, or even the unrivaled interaction with locals you are sure to experience. Rather, it is the peace and quiet you will find in amongst the forest paths. There are no cars here, only passing boats and the occasional dolphin.

The sleepy fishing village of Trancoso is exactly where you want to go to hide from the hustle and bustle of the World Cup and just do… nothing. If you are here to shop, think again – nothing opens til 3pm as everyone is at the beach! Maraú isn’t the first place that jumps to mind when thinking of the best beaches in Brazil, but that definitely isn’t because it’s lacking in them! As far as the eye can see you will find unspoilt islands, mangroves, palm trees, lakes, deserted beaches. The Butterfly House owners made sure to celebrate and protect this untouched beauty, taking 10 years to built the hotel! 7. Kenoa in Barra de São Miguel

Barra de São Miguel is set in the tropical rainforest and so sees soaring temperatures, cooled only by the sweet ocean breeze. 8. Sagu Mini Resort in Ilha Grande

Ilha Grande is an island with history – it has been a pirates’ lair, a leper colony, and even a prison for political prisoners! Today, however, things are a little more relaxed but thanks to that history, much of the island is made up of unspoilt tropical beaches and virgin Atlantic rainforest.
